Armen Ghazaryan, head of the Migration and Citizenship Service (MCS) of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, presented the new migration trends and processes. The participants had the opportunity to ask Mr. Ghazaryan the questions they were concerned about. The students were also presented with the available job opportunities of MCS. It was planned also to organize visit to the MCS for students.

The certificates award ceremony followed the lecture. YSU Law Faculty Deputy Dean for International Relations Anna Margaryan, YSU Oriental Studies Faculty Dean Ruben Melkonyan, Head of the Arabic Studies Department Hayk Kocharyan and lecturers who held seminars within the Project, attended the ceremony. Mrs. Margaryan and Mr. Melkonyan in their opening speeches mentioned the importance of this cooperation, emphasizing important role of students with competitive knowledge, not only in human rights’ field, but also other relevant fields.

Representatives of the US Embassy in Armenia also joined the event. In her opening speech, Public Relations Officer Jennifer McAndrew spoke about the importance of COI in improving the asylum process in Armenia, emphasizing the cooperation with “Mission Armenia”.

Alla Harutyunyan, vice-president of “Mission Armenia” congratulated the students, emphasizing the importance of the knowledge gained and the protection of the rights of refugees seeking asylum.

“COI Research Internship project to Improve the asylum systems in Armenia ” project is funded by the US Embassy in Armenia.

With the financial support of Start Network, Mission Armenia NGO provided psychological support and food assistance to displaced people and people affected from the Azerbaijani attacks on September 13.
Within the Project:
– 1954 people in Vayots Dzor, Syunik and Gegharkunik marzes received psychological support, including the elderly, children and their parents
– 500 vulnerable families in Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor marzes received food packages.
The project was implemented in partnership with ACTED Armenia and People in Need Armenia.

October 1 is the international day of the elderly.

Mission Armenia NGO provides set of servicies: psycho-social, health, legal, nutrition services to vulnerable elderly living in Yerevan and a number of marzes, providing them with both day care and home care services.

With the joint efforts of all of us, we can provide a dignified life for our elderly and let’s not forget that they are our strength, our wisdom, our history, our care and selfless love.

We wish our dear elderly peaceful years.

Our partners from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) also joined us on Elderly Day.
Their visit to the Mission Armenia’s “Artsvabuyn” Center for the Elderly was a pleasant surprise for the residents of the center. Well, the gifts provided were a new reason for smiles.
Mission Armenia on behalf of the “Artsvabuyn” center’s residents and staff members expreses its gratitude to UNFPA for making the day of the elderly so beautiful and, once again, highlighting their important role in our lives .

On July 28, “Khatutik” child friendly space in Hrazdan organized a whole series of events. During the day, the children had a chance to draw on paper what they have in their imagination in bright colors, the younger ones colored the yard of the center with chalks. During the event, the children of the center also danced traditional Armenian dances. The team spirit and solidarity won in small games-competitions.

Mission Armenia within the framework of the project ” Ensuring access to essential protection services for displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh in Armenia” funded by the European Union, has 6 “Khatutik” child friendly spaces in Yerevan city and Syunik, Gegharkunik, Ararat and Kotayk regions, where the essential protection services are provided, such as: socio-psychological, legal support, English language, computer courses, non-formal education.

On July 23-24, 2022 Mission Armenia in cooperation with the UNHCR organized a seminar in Hanqavan on the Role of Country of Origin Information within the Framework of Refugee Status Determination Procedure geared towards legal service providers in the field of asylum.
Representatives of the Migration Service, judges of the RA Administrative Court, public defenders, lawyers and YSU legal clinic colleagues participated in the seminar.
The methods and speculiarities of gathering information about the countries of origin of people seeking asylum in RA were discussed, taking into account the possible risks of persecution on political, religious and other grounds.
During the group work, the participants had the opportunity to use and discuss the acquired knowledge on a practical level and identify important questions.
Within the framework of the cooperation of Mission of Armenia and UNHCR this was the 6th seminar on the asylum procedure for public defenders, lawyers and staff of agencies providing legal services in the field of asylum.

Recently, Mission Armenia organized another workshop within the framework of the project implemented with the International Organization of Migration in Armenia.

The agenda of the workshop included the following topics:
1. Regulation of Migration Concepts and Processes in International and National Law
2. Legal Assistance to Stateless Persons in the Republic of Armenia
3. Legal Procedures for the Protection of Undocumented Persons

The director of the Legal Clinic, Knarik Vardanyan, expert Sergey Ghazinyan delivered lectures. During the meeting, the lawyer of Mission Armenia, Suren Baghramyan, presented the ways of support provided to the undocumented persons and the successful stories.

At the end of the meeting, the participants watched the film made within the framework of the #IBelong campaign, which presents the cases of undocumented persons in Armenia.

Relevant stakeholders, as well as students from different universities participated in the meeting.

June 20 is World Refugee Day.

Every year, millions of people are forced to leave their home places and move to another country.

According to UNHCR 2022 report, the number of forcibly displaced people has already reached 100 million.

Many refugees have found their new home in Armenia as well.

Mission Armenia tries to support them to adapt to the new environment and solve the main problems with various programs implemented by the Organization.

The Organization, together with its partner UNHCR, implemented a series of events dedicated to the World Refugee Day.

Another beautiful event was held jointly with the “Ukrainian Forum” NGO in the children’s park named after Kirov in Yerevan.

During the beautiful exhibition sale, the guests had the opportunity to enjoy the delicious dishes of the cuisines of Syria, Artsakh, and Ukraine, as well as they managed to buy beautiful traditional souvenirs.

The children were not bored at the event either. They lovingly drew beautiful pictures on the theme of peace. Throughout the event, songs from different countries were played, and the participants could also take part in a short course of jazz dances.

The day was successful and bright.
