On July 1, after
one-year break, Soup Kitchen that had been operating within Hrazdan Community
Center was reopened. As a result of the contract signed between Mission Armenia
NGO and Hrazdan City Hall financial resources were provided to put in motion the
Soup Kitchen?s works.
Yesterday, on July 29, with regard to
that event a meeting was arranged at Hrazdan Community Center with Kotayk marz
authorities, Hrazdan City Hall, various public organizations and representatives
of Mission Armenia NGO. In the beginning of the meeting guests walked through
the territory of Hrazdan Community Center and got acquainted with Center?s
activities and Soup Kitchen?s beneficiaries as well. The latter expressed their
satisfaction for the Soup Kitchen?s works.
Later on by the help of didactic
material Mission Armenia?s activities were presented. As it was found out,
Mission Armenia had started its activities since 1988 and firstly carried out
charitable activities in Kotayk marz, particularly in all those communities
where there were refugees.
As it was known, in 2003 our
organization established Community Center in Hrazdan, which involved
beneficiaries like lone elderly, disabled, unemployed, and other vulnerable
groups as well. Various social services have been provided to them by now.
During 2003-2008 Soup Kitchen was operating in that Center; however due to the
lack of financial resources Kitchen?s works were interrupted starting from
January 2008 up to June 2009. Now, after it has been reopened it serves to
vulnerable people of Hrazdan and neighboring populated areas.
H. Kirakosyan, Mission Armenia?s
president, presented a speech next after the didactic material was shown. She
greeted the presents and expressed her troubles concerning the country?s
socio-economic situation and growing tendency for poverty. She also told,
?Through joint efforts it will be possible to confront the forthcoming
challenges and overcome the extreme poverty.? Speech was followed with
greetings, questions, and a lively discussion aroused.
G. Tigranyan, Deputy Mayor of Hrazdan
expressed his gratitude to our organization and told he was glad that such a
structure existed in Hrazdan.
Then A. Mikaelyan, Head of the Staff of the City Hall pointed out, ?We have been
communicating with organization?s employees and social workers during the
working process. They are rather competent professionals. We are often notified
of the Center?s works, and it should be noted that we are quite pleased. At
last, it is praiseworthy that your organization is able to promote poverty
reduction in our country. With regard to Soup Kitchen,? as he stated, ?it is not
an innovation, and has always justified itself; the case is that in this month
after one year break it has been reopened.?
N. Hakobyan, Hrazdan Branch Manager
of Armenian Association of Women with University Education also shared her
impressions of the Center, and made a proposal for cooperating with Mission
Armenia.
Finally, A. Petrosyan, Head of the
Children?s Security Department at Kotayk Regional Council, suggested to create
an association, and though joint efforts evaluate marz?s needs, draw a map and
afterward recommend public organizations that are specialized in concrete areas
to solve or regulate the problems that existed in a concrete community.
Meeting was summarized by Mrs.
Kirakosyan, who underlined the importance of cooperation between Municipalities
and public organizations, expecting further continuity of such cooperation.
