On Saturday June 28th Vanadzor Community
Center Director Heghine Mirzoyan has got an alert. As it was detected, due to
the pouring rain the nearby river flooded and overflowed with slop the office of
Community Center which operates on the territory of Vanadzor 24th school at 6
Nersisyan Street.
During the interview with the Community Center Director H.
Mirzoyan it was found out, that while the employees hurried to the office, the
mile water has already managed to cause vital damages. They have tried to bring
out all the possible items, which could be yet salvaged.
H. Mirzoyan told, ?All the office equipment, archive materials, furniture,
hygienic stuff, medicine, and clothes, anticipated for the support of the
Alaverdi and Vanadzor beneficiaries, were damaged. The utilization of electric
socket has become dangerous. The road leading to the Soup Kitchen has been
blocked due to the slop and mire, and this resulted in that our elderly
beneficiaries could not visit the Kitchen. In consequence, the regular work flow
of the Community Center and the Kitchen has hindered so far?.
Ms. Mirzoyan expressed her gratitude to the 24th School
Principle for her good will, who has provided a temporary room in school and has
allowed the beneficiaries to visit the Soup Kitchen through the school, not to
stop the Community Center works, whilst the road taking to the Kitchen is not
opened.
Several hours later, Community Center employees expressed
their concerns to the Regional Council and Vanadzor City Hall representatives,
who visited the Center. Representatives of the Territorial Governance informed
that they would be eager to help, but there were many houses and lodgings in
Vanadzor that had appeared in the same situation in result of the pouring rain.
?This is a very difficult situation for us and we request the
City Hall and the Regional Council, to allocate at least one room in school or
in the adjoining territory for the Community Center, to provide the endurance of
the works?, pointed out the Community Center Director, who, by the way, is going
to officially apply with this claim to appropriate bodies of the Territorial
Governance anticipating their help and support.
