This year, the Republic of Armenia celebrates the 91st anniversary of the Armenian people?s heroic victories in the battles of Sardarapat, Gharaqilisa and Bash-Aparan on May 28th, 1918, as well as the reestablishment of Armenian statehood and the Armenian First Republic Day. Having a vital role for our nation and a special place in the people?s hearts, these events were celebrated among Mission Armenia beneficiaries in various regions.
On May 28, the Vanadzor City Hall Department of Culture and Education provided Mission Armenia?s Vanadzor Community Center with invitations for the literary event held in Stepan Zoryan house-museum bearing title ?May heroic fights in literature?.
Participating in the event were novelists Khoren Gasparyan and Valter Torosyan, as well as Trichq NGO at Vanadzor. The event was hosted by Jivan Sargsyan. V. Torosyan?s book ?The Sunrise of the Broken Church,? a representation of the Armenian heroic spirit, was also presented during the event. A group of children under the care of Trichq NGO read excerpts from the book, and also recited poems and sang patriotic songs. The elderly attendees derived great pleasure from the literary event.
Two days later the Vanadzor Communal Center organized an excursion of 28 beneficiaries to the Saint Obedient Church and to the place called ?Broken Church?, where the memorial of the warriors who perished in the Gharaqilisa battle is located.
Mission Armenia expresses its deep gratitude to the Vanadzor City Hall and Rudel CJSC for their assistance in organizing the excursion.
