It is impossible to forget the loss, but it is important to remember it with honor?

The refugees who live in Silikyan district and have benefited from Mission Armenia NGO?s social-healthcare services for about 11 years, have lots of memories to reflect on these days. They live with memories of their lost homelands to this day.

Bitter memories of the Shahumyan deportation of 1992 and the sorrow in their hearts of the loss of dead relatives, the residents of Silikyan?s Norwegian district, both children and the aged, gathered today to remember their native homes, to glorify those heroes who perished during the protection of their fatherland, and whose memory became immortalized in the hearts of their compatriots.

The event was organized through the efforts of Silikyan district?s refugees and with support of Mission Armenia NGO, and was a much anticipated event, especially for Shahumyan refugees.

The remembrance of June 13-14 accidents, performed images and pictures of native lands and sites made those present feel a deep sense of heartbreak, however, deeper were the emotions when 17 years after the murderous deeds, the children sang patriotic songs and recited reverential poems for the heroes during the organized remembrance event.

?Joint efforts and optimistic approach to the future of local and refugee children, who were participating in this event, are propitiatory. We notice that refugee children integrate with local children of their age with great success,? mentioned Mkrtich Hovhannisyan the social worker of Shengavit Day Care Center.

In the end a group of dead Armenian heroes was rewarded posthumously with ?Volunteer Defender Union? diplomas on the occasion of Vazgen Sargsyan?s 50th anniversary.
The sorrow of dead heroes? relatives today has changed into pride, as dying for the fatherland immortalized them and bestowed great honor on them as well. To the refugees standing up under the anthem of Independent Republic of Armenia, today again have homeland by the price of lives and blood of dead heroes.
